Fair Usage Policy

Fair usage policy applies on test basis on new subscriptions starting from 14 August 2009

Fair usage policy applies currently on test basis, with the purpose of only taking statistics about customer's consumption; connection speed will not be affected during this testing period.

Fair usage policy is designed to make sure your Orange DSL service is as fast and reliable as possible whenever you are connected. Some of our Orange DSL customers share their connection with their neighbors. This uses up lots of network capacity leaving less available for others. This means that the speed of your Orange DSL service is then affected. We think it's unfair that you should not be getting good speeds when you surf the Internet because of this small number of ˜Heavy Users".

How will fair usage policy be applied on Orange DSL accounts?

during a month, he/she is considered a ˜Heavy User" and the speed of the Orange DSL connection will drop to 128kbps till the end of the month (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet). When the new month starts, customer's connection speed will return to normal and we will start monitoring the usage from zero again.

I am a normal Internet user. Will the fair usage policy affect me?

Probably not, only 5% of customers are considered Heavy Users, so if you don’t share your connection with your neighbors, then it’s unlikely that you will be qualified as a Heavy User.

What are the maximum monthly fair usage levels for each package?

Package Maximum monthly fair usage level
DSL Unlimited 512 kbps 25 GB (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet)
DSL Unlimited 1 Mbps 40 GB (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet)
DSL Unlimited 2 Mbps 60 GB (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet)
DSL Unlimited 4 Mbps 80 GB (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet)

Does that mean my package is limited now?

At all, fair usage policy applies on DSL Unlimited packages, even if you are a Heavy User, we will not cut your Internet connection, but your speed will drop to 128kbps till end of the month (Orange DSL is not applying this policy yet), this means that you have full access to the internet during that period.
